A complete electromagnetic flowmeter usually consists of six parts (see Fig one ):

1. Magnetic circuit system:

It is used to generate magnetic field, usually DC or AC magnetic field. General electromagnetic flowmeter is selected 50HZ Alternating magnetic field generated by power frequency power supply.

2. Measuring catheter:

Its function is to let the measured liquid pass through. In order to make the magnetic flux be shunted or short circuited when the magnetic line of force passes through the measuring tube, the measuring tube must be made of materials with non magnetic conductivity, low conductivity, low thermal conductivity and certain mechanical strength. Non magnetic stainless steel, glass fiber reinforced plastic, high strength plastic and aluminum can be selected.

3. Electrode:

It is used to extract the induced electromotive force signal which is proportional to the measured value. The electrodes are generally made of non magnetic stainless steel and are required to be flush with the lining so that the flow of fluid is not obstructed. Its installation position should be in the vertical direction of the pipeline, so as to prevent the deposition on it and affect the measurement accuracy.

4. Shell:

Generally made of ferromagnetic material, it is the outer cover of the distribution system excitation coil and insulates the interference of external magnetic field.

5. Lining:

There is a complete electrical insulation lining on the inner side of the measuring tube and on the sealing surface of the flange. Its function is to measure the resistance of the tube to corrosion by measuring the tube wall resistance. Lining materials are generally PTFE plastic, ceramic, etc. which are corrosion-resistant, high-temperature resistant and wear-resistant.

6. Converter:

The induced electromotive force signal generated by liquid flow is very weak, which is greatly affected by various interference factors. The function of the converter is to amplify and convert the induced potential signal into a unified standard signal and suppress the main interference signal. Its task is to detect the induced potential signal from the electrode Ex After amplification, it is converted into a unified standard DC signal.

Electromagnetic flowmeter is based on Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction for flow measurement. The advantage of electromagnetic flowmeter is that the pressure loss is very small and the range of flow can be measured. When a conductor moves in a magnetic field by cutting the magnetic line of force, an induced potential will be generated in the conductor. The magnitude of the induced potential is directly proportional to the effective length of the conductor in the magnetic field and the speed of the conductor moving perpendicular to the magnetic field in the magnetic field. Similarly, when the conductive fluid flows vertically in the magnetic field and cuts the magnetic induction force line, the induced potential will be generated on the electrodes on both sides of the pipe. The direction of the induced potential is determined by the right hand rule, and the magnitude of the induced potential is determined by the following formula:

According to Faraday electromagnetic induction principle, a pair of detection electrodes are installed on the pipe wall perpendicular to the axis and magnetic line of force of the measuring tube. When the conductive liquid moves along the axis of the measuring tube, the conductive liquid cuts the magnetic line of force and generates an induced potential. The induced potential is detected by two detection electrodes, and the value is in positive proportion to the flow rate

1.
