 Working principle of Precession Vortex Flowmeter

When the fluid passes through the vortex generator composed of spiral blades, the fluid is forced to rotate violently around the generating body axis to form vortex. When the fluid enters the diffusion section, the vortex flow is affected by the backflow, and begins to make a second rotation, forming a gyroscopic vortex precession phenomenon. The precession frequency is directly proportional to the flow rate and is not affected by the physical properties and density of the fluid. The flow rate is known by measuring the precession frequency of the second rotation of the fluid. In addition, good linearity can be obtained in a wide flow range. The flow calculation formula is as follows:

Q -- volume flow rate m³/s

The instrument coefficient of the flowmeter has nothing to do with the temperature, pressure, composition and physical properties (density and viscosity) of the fluid in a certain range of structural parameters and specified Reynolds number.


The flowmeter is composed of sensor and conversion display instrument.

1. The sensor includes a vortex generator, a detection element, a rectifier and a shell.

The vortex generator is composed of a specific spiral blade, which is fixed at the front end of the shell contraction section, forcing the fluid to produce strong vortex flow.

The detection element is installed near the throat of the expansion tube, and the frequency signal of vortex precession can be measured by using thermal, piezoelectric, strain, capacitance or optical fiber detection elements.

The rectifier is fixed at the outlet of the flowmeter body, and its function is to eliminate the vortex flow, so as to reduce the influence of downstream flow pattern on instrument measurement.

The shell is designed into a certain shape of flow channel to form vortex, fix and protect the internal parts and components, and connect with the pipeline through flange.

2. Conversion display instrument

After amplification, filtering and shaping, the weak voltage signal detected by the piezoelectric sensor becomes a pulse signal whose frequency is proportional to the flow rate, and then is counted and displayed by the display instrument. The display instrument is equipped with export interface to output various signals. The measured gas medium can be compensated for temperature and pressure, converted into volume flow under standard conditions, and displayed.

Yjlux series Precession Vortex Flowmeter Installation requirements:

In order to make the Precession Vortex Flowmeter work in a normal state, the installation and use personnel must understand the specific structure, characteristics and flow signal conversion of the installed instrument, understand the role of each link in the signal transmission process, and install and use according to the product manual. Generally speaking, the following points should be paid attention to in the installation and use of Precession Vortex flowmeter.

1) Choose a reasonable installation site. Installation site should avoid strong power equipment, high frequency equipment, strong power switch equipment ; Avoid the influence of high temperature heat source and radiation heat source ; Avoid the influence of high temperature and strong corrosive atmosphere : Avoid strong vibration, and installation, wiring, maintenance is convenient. In the upstream and downstream of the sensor, the vibration caused by the long pipe must be eliminated.

2) Generally, the instrument should be installed horizontally, and the flow direction of the measured fluid should be consistent with the arrow indicating the flow direction on the shell. It can also be installed vertically or obliquely. When measuring liquid, make sure that the sensor is always fully filled with liquid. In order not to affect the normal transmission of fluid during maintenance, it is suggested to add a bypass in the installation section of the instrument.

3) In principle, it is allowed that there is no straight pipe section before and after the flowmeter, but it is generally required that there is one in front of the instrument 3D The length of the straight pipe is behind the instrument 1D Length of straight pipe. Special requirements 5D and 3D Length. When the radius of single bend or double bend is greater than 1.8D The straight pipe section can not be used before and after the flowmeter. The length of straight pipe required for various pipe installation conditions is shown in the figure below.

4) Temperature and pressure compensation can be used when measuring gas or steam. The installation position of thermometer and pressure gauge is shown in the figure.

5) When there are impurities in the measured fluid, a filter or filter screen should be installed in front of the instrument, but the requirements of straight pipe section in front of the instrument should still be ensured.

6} When measuring a small amount of gas-liquid two-phase flow with different phases, the sensor installation method is introduced. When measuring liquid, there may be a small amount of gas phase in the pipeline, the content of which does not exceed the specified gas-liquid two-phase fluid. In order to prevent the gas from staying in the sensor, a gas separator must be installed. When measuring gas, when the pipeline is subject to the condensate that may be produced by the measured gas and the unstable liquid phase in the gas which has not been removed, it is better to install vertically to prevent the liquid from staying in the sensor. When measuring high and low temperature fluid, the sensor itself should have effective measures to hold.

7) The volume flow of the measured gas measured by the instrument is the actual flow rate of the measured gas under the working state. If the actual flow rate is converted into the standard flow rate under the standard state, the following formula can be used, four P is the volume flow rate in the standard state ;4, Is the volume flow rate in the working state ;ho Is the absolute pressure of the gas under standard condition ;To Is the thermodynamic temperature of the gas under standard condition ; Household is the absolute pressure of the measured gas under working condition ;T Is the thermodynamic temperature of the gas to be measured under working conditions ;Z Is the compression coefficient of the measured gas under working condition.

8) When the pipeline is long and vibration may occur, fixed supports should be installed upstream and downstream of the flowmeter to prevent pipeline vibration. According to experience, the flow measurement value is easily affected by air flow pulsation and pressure change.

9) Volume flow meter coefficient K vn Mass flow meter coefficient K,,,o It is calibrated and determined at normal temperature before the instrument leaves the factory. When the instrument is in calibration condition, it is quite different from the working condition of the instrument K , and K "Correction should be made, and the correction method for instrument coefficient is the same as that for vortex flowmeter.
